Former Steamboat teacher to study abroad
Stuart Handloff, former Steamboat Springs High School drama teacher and current director of The Great American Laughing Stock Company community theater, has been accepted into the Master of Theatre Arts Program at Victoria University and Toi Whakaari (New Zealand's national drama school) in Wellington, New Zealand.
Only six students a year are accepted into the two-year directing program, which culminates in the awarding of the MTA degree.
Handloff will leave for New Zealand in late January to commence his studies.
Dr. John Downie and Dr. Matt Wagner are the coordinators of the Master's Program. Christian Penny heads the directing studies at Toi Whakaari.
All are internationally recognized for their expertise in theater and the performing arts.
Victoria University and Toi Whakaari are located in Wellington, the cultural, artistic and political hub of New Zealand.
