The Steamboat Pilot & Today is accepting letters of interest from those who wish to serve as community representatives on the newspaper's Editorial Board from Jan. 1 through April 30.
The Editorial Board includes two community representatives and five members of the newspaper staff. Newspaper staff members on the board include WorldWest General Manager Suzanne Schlicht, Publisher Bryna Larsen, editor Scott Stanford, city editor Brent Boyer and reporter Tom Ross. The Editorial Board formulates the Our View opinions expressed on the ViewPoints page of the newspaper.
Readers interested in serving on the Editorial Board should send a letter of 500 words or less expressing their interest in the board to Stanford at firstname.lastname@example.org or at P.O. Optimist Club looking for Teen of the Month
The Steamboat Optimist Club is accepting applications from area high school seniors for its Teen of the Month award. All teens recognized as Teen of the Month will be eligible for a $1,000 Teen of The Year award to be presented at the Teen of The Year dinner in May.

Fairgrounds open for
public horseback riding
Don't let your horse get out of shape. The Routt County Fairgrounds multi-purpose building is open to the public for horseback riding. The cost is $5 an hour.
Open riding sessions last through the winter with a varied schedule. Horses are not provided. The schedule is posted at www.routtcountyfair.org, or call 276-3068 for more information.
Library encourages teens to join 'Sock It to Me'
Bud Werner Memorial Library is encouraging teens to take part in its "Sock It to Me" program. Children ages 11 to 18 are invited to stop by the library to enter a drawing to win a holiday stocking full of books, movies and other goodies.
