If you go
What: Winter Activities Fair
When: 2:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday
Where: Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel
Don't know what the Winter Carnival is all about? Haven't heard that dog sledding is one of the winter activities available to Routt County visitors in the winter? Unfamiliar with some of the area's new restaurants?
Next week's Winter Activities Fair just might be what you need.
Owners and employees of dozens of area businesses and attractions will gather next week at the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel to remind locals - particularly those in tourism-related businesses - about the things to do in Steamboat.
The Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association is sponsoring the Winter Activity Fair, which will take place from 2:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday.
"It's all about introducing or refreshing locals with the activities available throughout the valley," Chamber spokeswoman Riley Polumbus said. "It's an ideal thing for people who might get questions from visitors."
Chamber members can reserve a booth for $100. Registration must be done through Chamber employee Angie Kimmes by Monday.
Last year's fair attracted 40 businesses, Polumbus said.
"It's good for businesses who have activities or anything new," Polumbus said.
Businesses already signed up include outfitters, restaurants, tour companies, art galleries, retailers, rental shops and spas.
Attending the fair is a good idea for anyone who works in the service industry - food servers, shuttle drivers or hotel employees, Polumbus said.
"Even if you are just someone who has family coming in town and you are looking for something for them to do, this gives some great ideas," she said. "You might learn something you never learned about Steamboat."
Admission to the Winter Activity Fair is free.
