Steamboat Springs Two Steamboat Springs businesses had their liquor licenses suspended during a show cause hearing Thursday afternoon as punishment for failing a June compliance check.
Fiesta Jalisco and Jade Summit, which operates the Pirate's Pub, both failed police department compliance checks by selling alcohol to underage buyers. Fiesta Jalisco failed a May 5 check, and Jade Summit failed a June 16 check.
During the hearing, the Steamboat Springs City Council, which is the city's liquor license authority, suspended Fiesta Jalisco's liquor license for five days, although the business will only serve two of those days. The other three days will be held in abeyance and will only be served if the restaurant fails another compliance check within the year. Fiesta Jalisco will not be allowed to serve alcohol on Sept. 14 and 15, a Thursday and Friday.
Jade Summit's liquor license was suspended for seven days, although the restaurant will only serve four of those days. Like Jalisco, the restaurant will only serve the other three days if they fail another compliance check in the next year.
Both restaurant owners declined comment during their hearings.
