Yampatika invites artists to participate in fundraiser

Yampatika, a nonprofit organization focused on providing environmental and cultural education, is inviting local professional artists to participate in the upcoming "Unmask Your Colorado Critter" fundraiser. Artists are invited to create a mask that will be auctioned at an Oct. 6 event. Masks will be displayed to the community the week before and the week after the event. Interested artists must contact Yampatika by July 31. Completed masks need to be delivered to Yampatika by Sept. 15. Space is limited to eight artists. Call Yampatika at 871-9151.

Soup Bowl Supper and silent auction Oct. 4

The annual Soup Bowl Supper is Oct. 4 at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. Attendees will receive a locally made ceramic soup bowl that they can fill with soup donated by local restaurants. Bread, beverage and dessert also are included. Tickets are $18 in advance and $20 at the door. A silent auction of ceramic creations by local clay artists also takes place at each of the two supper seatings.

Historic Routt County is the beneficiary of this year's fundraiser. Previous Soup Bowl Supper beneficiaries have included the Animal Assistance League of Northwest Colorado, Yampa Valley Recycles and LIFT-UP of Routt County. The fundraiser has generated a total of $24,893 in its four years.

Call Deb Babcock at 846-9349.

Bust of Steamboat needs local artists, sponsors

Local artists and sponsors are needed for the fifth annual Bust of Steamboat. There are two remaining sponsorships, and several committed sponsors are looking for artists to be their creative partners.

This year's auction is from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 27 at Three Peaks Bar & Grill. Bras will be auctioned off to the highest bidder to help raise money for local women. All funds benefit uninsured or underinsured Yampa Valley women who need mammograms or financial assistance for breast cancer treatment.

As in years past, an award will be presented at the end of the evening for "Bust of Show" -- the bra that receives the most dollar votes. Call Debbie Curd at 871-7907.
