Three Quarter Circles Ranch hosts shotgun shoot weekend

— The Three Quarter Circles Ranch is hosting a vintage shotgun shoot Aug. 12, and among those expected to attend are members of the Rocky Mountain Vintagers shotgun group based on the Front Range.

Rocky Mountain Vintagers group members who attend the event will use classic shotguns, primarily side-by-side guns of various gauges. Most of the club members are residents of Colorado, but some are from New Mexico, Utah and other surrounding states.

The Three Quarter Circles Ranch is supplying the ammunition and targets for the weekend event, ranch owner Michael Hogue said. The ranch also will be the site of numerous activities, including recreational shooting, competitions and social periods with refreshments.

The ranch is a sporting clays venue. It is just a few miles northwest of Steamboat Springs off U.S. Highway 40. The ranch's shooting course consists of 12 stations that can be changed to accommodate shooters of all experience levels.

Hogue said he is excited for the Aug. 12 event and intends for it to be a nice gathering for the vintage shotgun group, which he said hasn't participated in a trip like this for many years. Hogue also advocates the growth of the sport and encourages anyone who wants to learn more about sporting clays to visit his ranch.
