Jade Summit, Fiesta Jalisco face license suspension

The show-cause hearings for Fiesta Jalisco and Jade Summit were postponed until noon Aug. 9 at Centennial Hall.

The hearings, held by the Steamboat Springs City Council, will determine the punishment each restaurant will receive for failing a Steamboat Springs Police Department alcohol compliance check. Jade Summit owner Kevin Nerney reportedly served alcohol to an underage girl at his bar June 16. A Fiesta Jalisco bartender reportedly served alcohol to two underage people May 5. However, that infraction will be treated as a single violation. Both restaurants face the possibility of a liquor license suspension.

Also Aug. 9, the owners of Amante will be subject to a probable-cause hearing because the bar allegedly served alcohol to a minor. Probable cause hearings are held to determine whether there is enough evidence to move forward with a show-cause hearing.

Partners sponsors "Adopt a Scarecrow" project

Partners in Routt County, a youth mentoring organization, is sponsoring an "Adopt a Scarecrow" project. The scarecrows, made by six junior partners and local artist and school counselor Suzy Holloran, are part of an ongoing silent auction at the Depot Art Center. Only four scarecrows remain. Each scarecrow is unique and comes with his or her own story. Stop by to say hello. The scarecrows are outside of the art center, and a bid sheet is attached to each scarecrow. Proceeds from the silent auction will be used to fund next year's project. For more information, call Partners at 879-6141.
