Steamboat Springs The Steamboat Springs Planning Commission has approved plans for a townhome project in the mountain area.
Commissioners on Thurs-day unanimously approved the development plan and final development plan for Monte-nero at Steamboat Springs. Development plans address with elements such as building mass and height; final development plans focus on architecture.
The project at Mount Werner Road and Rockies Way will include 17 residential units in seven duplexes and one triplex. On-site amenities will include a small spa facility. The project will have 70 parking spaces, 33 of which will be private garages.
The applicant, Brian Olson, wanted the city to vacate a portion of right-of-way. In exchange, Olson has said he would provide off-site pedestrian improvements on adjacent land. The improvements include increased landscaping and a sidewalk connection.
Kathi Meyer, chairwoman of the Planning Commission, said Friday that commissioners thought the trade-off for vacating the right-of-way was a positive one.
In other business the Planning Commission:
Tabled review of a proposed revision to the city's community development code. The revision, which dealt with street planning, related to property near the boundaries of the city of Steamboat Springs. Commissioners tabled the item for further review between city and Routt County officials.
Tabled review of a proposal to expand the parking lot at First National Bank. The proposal came in the form of a revision to an approved development plan; the change would provide additional parking. City planning staff requested that the commission table the proposal because of an unresolved issue concerning wetlands that are on the site.
