Oak Creek to swear in new board

Oak Creek's new Town Board takes office tonight.

During the April 4 municipal election, Dave Fisher and Angie Kralj KenCairn were elected to the Town Board, and incumbents J. Elliott and John Crawford were re-elected. Incumbent Mayor Kathy "Cargo" Rodeman also was re-elected.

The old Town Board will meet and take care of one item of business. Then, the new board members will be sworn in.

The new Town Board then will tackle the rest of the night's agenda, which includes reviewing two letters of interest for seats on the Oak Creek Planning Commission and approving the Oak Creek Fire Protection District's lease with the town of Oak Creek.

In other business, the Town Board is scheduled to:

Hear from speakers including David Bonfiglio and Karen Tussey. Bonfiglio is scheduled to ask the town for a special-use permit to sell beer at the annual Taste of South Routt, to seek support for the South Routt Medical Center and to send two people to a Main Street U.S.A. meeting in Steamboat Springs. Tussey is scheduled to speak about the South Routt Economic Develop--ment Council.

Hear letters of interest from Fire Chief Chuck Wisecup and Tom Bleuer about an opening on the town's Planning Commission.

Fill the Planning Com--mission vacancy. Rodeman said she expects the Town Board to select one person to fill the position full time and another person to serve as an alternate.

Appoint commissioners to each of the town's departments. Rodeman said commissioners are appointed to oversee departmental concerns and mediate any problems.

Hear an update about June's Soap Box Derby.

Discuss and approve a lease between the town of Oak Creek and the Oak Creek Fire Protection District that would allow the district to use the town's old Town Hall on Main Street.

Discuss final payment to Berry Brothers, a company that was contracted to repair the town's utility lines in 2004. (This item may be discussed before the new board members are sworn in.)

Hear proposed improvements for Sharp Street.

Discuss dates for the town's annual Clean-Up Day and a St. Jude's Bike-a-thon.
