Depot open until 8 p.m. Thursday for exhibits

The Depot Art Center will stay open until 8 p.m. every Thursday through Oct. 13 for the Diego Rivera exhibit and the 12 x 12 artist members show. Admission to the shows is free. Call 879-9008 for more information.

Volunteer training offered for anti-violence group

Advocates Against Battering and Abuse is looking for community volunteers interested in helping victims of domestic violence. Advocates will host a 25-hour training this fall that includes two Saturday and five weeknight sessions. The first two sessions will be Oct. 17 and Oct. 22. Call Allison at 879-2034.

School schedule adjusted for memorial service

Steamboat Springs High School will operate on an early dismissal schedule Friday to accommodate the students and staff members who want to attend memorial services for Adele Dombrowski. The schedule for the day is: Zero hour: 7:20 to 8:15 a.m., Period 5, 8:20 to 9:20 a.m., break, 9:20 to 9:30 a.m., Period 6, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Period 7, 10:35 to 11:35 a.m., lunch, 11:35 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Period 8, 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. School will be dismissed at 1:15 p.m.

School buses will be available at the high school at 1:15 p.m. to transport students to the memorial services at the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel. The buses will bring students back to the school at 3:35 p.m. Students will be responsible for getting back on the buses if they need a ride back to school. Counselors and mental health professionals will be available at the memorial to support students. Students who do not attend the memorial may leave school at 1:15 p.m. or can participate in supervised study at the school. Call 879-1562 with questions.

Benefits advice available for military veterans

Military veterans are encouraged to stop by the Workforce Office in the Sundance at Fish Creek shopping center to visit with the Routt County Veterans Affairs officer. Story-time for children ages 5 and younger

Bud Werner Memorial Library invites children ages 5 and younger to Hodgepodge story-time, every other Thursday from 3:30 to 4 p.m. Hodgepodge is a free, drop-in program, and will be offered Oct. 6 and 20; Nov. 3 and 17; and Dec. 1 and 15.

Youth hockey registration going on now for 2005-06
