CMC offering parenting classes on Tuesdays

Colorado Mountain College is offering "Becoming a Love and Logic Parent/Teacher" during four Tuesday classes. The classes are from 6 to 9:50 p.m. Oct. 4, 11, 18 and 25. They teach practical techniques for raising children to make responsible decisions. The cost is $43 for in-district residents. Call 870-4444.

LIFT-UP distributing next cycle of USDA commodities

LIFT-UP of Routt County offices in Steamboat Springs, Hayden and Oak Creek are distributing U.S. Department of Agriculture commodities on a quarterly basis. The next distribution cycle begins Saturday and ends Dec. 31. Food will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. Pilot & Today looking for talented teen staff

The Steamboat Pilot & Today is looking for teenage photographers, artists and writers for the 2005-06 staff of Teen Style. Teen Style runs in the Sunday newspaper every third week. Museum is seeking nominations for awards

The Tread of Pioneers Museum is seeking nominations for the annual Leckenby/Larson Awards to be presented by the museum at a special dinner Oct. 25.

The Leckenby Pioneer Award is given to a living pioneer in Routt County. The nominee must have a total of 30 years' residency in the county. The recipient must be involved with the community, responsive to community needs, past and present, and contribute to the future. He or she also should be a representative of the history of the community, as well as an inspiration to the county's youth.

The Stanley L. Larson Award is bestowed on someone who has made a major contribution to Routt County while living here, and has since passed away.
