Lynn Abbott: Vote for Referendums C, D

Passing referendums C and D makes sense.

It makes business sense to regain Colorado's competitive edge in attracting companies and investors who look for quality schools, an educated work force and adequate transportation.

It makes educational sense to provide Colorado's college students who need that competitive edge with our nation's highest level of education, not the nation's lowest funding.

It makes safety sense to maintain our roads and bridges before they become hazardous.

It makes financial sense to vote for a plan that lays out precisely how the money will be spent, right down to the specific programs and construction projects that will receive funds.

Yes, all this makes sense. But for me, the bottom line is that passing referendums C and D is the ethical and right thing to do. It's who we are. We care for our young, our vulnerable and our elderly. We protect our residents with police, fire and search and rescue departments. We build and maintain safe and adequate roads. We shouldn't accept anything less.
