Slide open this weekend for last time before winter
The Howler Alpine Slide at Howelsen Hill shuts down for the season at 5 p.m. Sunday. The slide, which is operating during weekends only, is scheduled to be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club Director Rick DeVos said the cost to ride the slide will be reduced to $5 in hopes of having one more solid weekend.
"It's been a successful year for us," DeVos said. "This is a chance for locals and visitors to Steamboat to enjoy one last ride."
The money made from the slide helps fund the Winter Sports Club's annual operations. Alpine Slide tickets can be purchased at the yurt at the bottom of the slide.
Riders take the Barrows chair lift to the top of Howelsen, where they slide down the tracks to the bottom of the hill.
