Annual Search and Rescue fundraiser is Sept. 27

The 10th annual Routt County Search and Rescue fundraiser is from 6 to 10 p.m. Sept. 27 at Bear River Bar and Grill. Tickets are $10 in advance and can be purchased from any Search and Rescue member. Tickets also can be purchased for $15 at the door. The fundraiser will feature music by the Storm Mountain Moonshiners and auction items and door prizes that have been donated by local businesses. All proceeds benefit Routt County Search and Rescue.

Youth hockey registration for 2005-06 is under way

Registration is under way for the 2005-06 season of the Steamboat Springs Youth Hockey Association. Boys and girls of all ability levels are encouraged to sign up. Preseason clinics start this month for players of all ages. Register online at www.steamboatyouthhockey.com or call 871-0063.

Bust of Steamboat seeking local artists to design bras

Local artists are needed to help Bust of Steamboat sponsors design bras. The bras will be auctioned during the fourth annual "Bust of Steamboat" event, to be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 28 at Three Peaks Grill. All funds raised will be used to help uninsured or underinsured women of Yampa Valley who are in need of mammograms or financial assistance for breast cancer treatment.

Breast cancer survivors are also needed as volunteers at Bust of Steamboat. To volunteer, call Debbie Curd at 871-7907 or 879-2373.

Book clubs can request Carpet Bag kits

Book clubs can request Carpet Bags, kits that each contain a copy of a book and a notebook filled with resources, including biographical information, interviews and discussion questions. Book clubs can choose from nearly 20 titles. Interested book clubs can get more information by calling Michelle Dover at 879-0240, ext. 307.

Strings guild presents 2005 Kitchen Tour

The Strings in the Mountains Guild presents the 2005 Kitchen Tour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The event includes a tour of six of Steamboat's most fabulous home kitchens, an expo featuring local design experts and tastings.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 on the day of the tour. Tickets are available at Off the Beaten Path Bookstore, the Homesteader, All That Jazz and the Strings in the Mountains box office or by calling 879-5056, ext. 105.

Youth chorale spaces

are still available

Spaces are still available for youth singers in third through sixth grade who would like to rehearse with the Youth Columbine Chorale from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday at United Methodist Church. Rehearsals will culminate in a holiday concert on Dec. 8.

Children invited to drop-in story-time at library

Bud Werner Memorial Library invites children five and younger to Hodgepodge story-time, from 3:30 to 4 p.m. every other Thursday. Hodgepodge is a free, drop-in program, and it will be offered Thursday; Oct. 6 and 20; Nov. 3 and 17; and Dec. 1 and 15. Call 879-0240.
