I totally agree with Ulrich Salzgeber's letter to the editor Sept. 14 regarding the anonymity of Sound Off. He articulates the issues exceptionally well. Sound Off may have entertainment value, but it is beneath the journalistic standards found elsewhere in the Steamboat Pilot & Today.
You may get fewer submissions in Sound Off if the writer's identity is required. And it will certainly take more staff time to ensure that the submitter is who he or she says she is. But Yampa Valley residents have shown little reluctance in speaking out on issues that concern them. It will serve your readers' interests and the community better if these opinions are "on the record."
