Golf to support Winter Sports Club scholarships
Space is available to participate in the annual Moose's Loose Golf Tournament on Sept. 21. The scramble tournament with a 12:15 p.m. shotgun start at Sheraton Steamboat Golf Club benefits the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club Scholarship Fund. The cost to enter the team event is $100 a person and includes 18 holes of golf, two golf carts per team and an awards presentation at the Tugboat Grill & Pub. Free English classes held Tuesdays and Thursdays
Colorado Mountain College offers free English as a Second Language classes for all levels. Classes meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays in Willett Hall, Room 302. To enroll, call Jenny le Roux at 870-4534.
Get a copy of Steamboat's back-to-school guide
Copies of a special Steamboat Springs School District back-to-school insert that was published in the Aug. 19 Steamboat Today are available at the district's main office at 325 Seventh St. The insert includes bus route information, lunch prices, district absentee policies and the annual school calendar.
Steamboat hockey league looking for girls to play
The Steamboat Springs Youth Hockey Association is looking for girls interested in playing on its U-19, U-14 and U-12 teams. The teams are part of the Mountain States Girls Hockey League and play between 14 and 18 games a season as well as two or more tournaments, including Steamboat's Winter Carnival Tournament. Practices begin in mid-October and run through mid-March. Optional preseason ice time is available this month. Clinics are offered for girls interested in being goalies. Buy tickets for Saturday's Soup Bowl Supper benefit
Tickets for the Steamboat Clay Artisans Soup Bowl Supper benefiting the Animal Assistance League of Northwest Colorado are on sale for $18 at All That Jazz, the Depot Art Center and the Animal Shelter. The dinners are at 5:30 and 7 p.m. Saturday at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. Attendees receive a hand-made ceramic bowl, soup donated by local restaurants, bread, beverages and dessert. Newspaper seeking help from talented teens
The Steamboat Pilot & Today is looking for teenage photographers, artists and writers for the 2005-06 staff of Teen Style. Teen Style runs in the Sunday newspaper every third week.
