Board of Realtors donate $8,000 to local groups

The Steamboat Springs Board of Realtors donated $8,000 this year to Routt County organizations through the Colorado Association of Realtors Housing Opportunity Foundation.

Among the donation recipients were LIFT-UP of Routt County, Horizons Specialized Services, Advocates Against Battering and Abuse and West Routt Housing Inc.

"Our board is pleased to donate to our community, and we encourage development of crisis shelters and home-ownership opportunities for individuals and families with moderate and low income," said Jill Limberg of Colorado Group Realty.

The funding is obtained through various fundraising methods conducted by volunteers, including collecting interest on earnest-money deposits, holding fundraisers and a seller down-payment assistance program called Colorado Cares.
