Arts Calendar for Sept. 2



¤ Opening reception for new wooden turned bowls by Glen Paulk and watercolors by Dedi Knox will be from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Wild Horse Gallery. The gallery is in the Sheraton Steamboat Resort, open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Call 879-7660.


¤ An opening reception for a one-man show of work by Rick Howell is from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mad Creek Gallery, 811 Lincoln Ave. The show will be on display through Sept. 10. Call 875-1301.


¤ A free ART-Thursday, 45-minute arts and cultural orientation tour meets at 4 p.m. in the Wells Fargo Bank upper parking lot at Oak and Third streets. Call 846-7879.

¤ Paintings of historic Routt County buildings by former area resident Marty Alexandroff are on rotating exhibit through the summer, now at the Yampa Public Library in Yampa. The exhibit will move to Oak Creek for the Labor Day weekend celebration and then to Wells Fargo National Bank in Steamboat Springs. The paintings are part of a summer-long silent auction to raise money for Historic Routt County. ¤ The M.O.R.E. Art Site Project is exhibiting work of local and national artists in the halls of Yampa Valley Medical Center, Ambiente and Chieftain Plaza through October.

¤ Cartoons by Aimee Kimmey and photography by Paula Jo Steele and Judy Jones are on display at Mona's Art to Go, 2851 Riverside Plaza, No. 14. Call 870-3400.
