Coat drive deadline extended to Thursday

The donation period for LIFT-UP of Routt County and Steamboat Cleaners' coat drive has been extended to Thursday. People are encouraged to drop-off gently used winter coats. The coats will be distributed from Tuesday to Nov. 12.istribution will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays in Warehouse No. 9 in the Copper Ridge Business Park on Copper Ridge Circle, behind Elk River Farm and Feed.lpine Taxi will give free rides from its office on U.S. Highway 40 west of downtown Steamboat Springs to the coat distribution center. Book fair to be held Thursday to Nov. 11

Strawberry Park Elementary School's Book Fair is from Thursday to Nov. 11 in the school's library. The free fair features children's books, interactive software, adult books and bestsellers from more than 150 publishers. The fair is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. with the exception of Saturday, when it opens at noon and closes at 4 p.m. The fair ends at noon Nov. 11.

Volunteers needed at health resource center

The Community Health Resource Center is looking for computer-literate volunteers to work three hours a week. The center operates a medical lending library and conducts internet searches. Call Yampa Valley Medical Center or the resource center for more information.

Registration under way for Sunday hockey league

Registration is under way for the Sunday Night Game, Steamboat Springs' premier adult hockey league. The cost is $250 plus a $25 USA Hockey registration. The costs include 16 games and playoffs. Interested players can sign up at Backdoor Sports at Ninth and Yampa streets. Call 879-6249.

Community foundation taking grant forms

The Yampa Valley Community Foundation quarterly competitive grant forms are being accepted through 5 p.m. Tuesday. The Community Foundation allocates funds for projects and programs that demonstrate progress toward achieving healthy community goals in the areas of art and culture, education, environment, health and human services and recreation. The Community Foundation will consider proposals from organizations and individuals from nonprofit organizations in Routt and Moffat counties.
