Hayden volleyball falls in 3 to Cowboys
Tuesday, October 4, 2005
The Hayden volleyball team lost its first match of October with a three-set defeat at the hands of Plateau Valley on Saturday.
The Cowboys defeated the Tigers, 25-19, 25-21, 27-25, in the league game in Collbran.
"They played really, really well," Hayden coach Becky Burdick said about her team. "Plateau Valley is a lot better (than in recent years)."
In an effort to help the team, Burdick changed the starting lineup, inserting sophomore Jacquelyn Denker into the front row. Denker previously had been a back row player.
"She's a bullet," Burdick said. "I just changed a couple things around."
Official statistics from the game were misplaced, so no offensive or defensive stats were available.
Hayden (5-7 overall, 2-3 in league play) hosted Grand Valley in a nonleague match Tuesday night in Hayden.
Up next for the Tigers is a 6 p.m. Friday match against Meeker.
