Library's 'Sock It to Me' program has started

Bud Werner Memorial Library's "Sock It to Me" teen program runs through the winter holidays. Teens are invited to the library to enter a drawing to win a holiday stocking filled with books, movies and other goodies. Teens will receive a ticket for the drawing every time they check out a book or movie. Call 879-0240, ext. 312.

Salvation Army seeking volunteer bell ringers

The Salvation Army began its annual bell-ringing campaign Friday. Anyone interested in volunteering for a one-hour shift should call Sharon at 846-8257 or Debbie at 879-8192.

Winter Sports Club needs volunteers for races

The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club needs volunteers for International Skiing Federation Alpine races, Dec. 18 to 21 at Howelsen Hill and Steamboat Ski Area. Volunteers are needed to be gatekeepers and for other duties. All volunteers will get a ski ticket voucher to be redeemed at Steamboat Ski Area any day of the ski season. The Winter Sports Club and Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. also need volunteers for the 2005 Nordic Combined World Cup B and U.S. Freestyle Team Olympic Trials, Dec. 10 and 11 and Dec. 30. Event funding applications being taken at Chamber

The Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association is accepting applications for summer 2006 special events funding. The application deadline is Dec. 9. Download an application form at www.steamboatchamber.com or pick one up at the Chamber office. Call Jody at 879-0882, ext. 203, with questions.

Volunteers needed to help at Christmas tree stands

The Steamboat Lions Club's annual Christmas tree stands are at the former Sweet Pea Produce lot across Lincoln Avenue from Bud Werner Memorial Library and at Christy Sports in Central Park Plaza. The stands, open until 7 p.m. daily, sell a variety of Christmas trees, including some as tall as 25 feet. Special orders can be accommodated. Proceeds from tree sales go to a variety of local programs, including for student scholarships, residents with disabilities, eyeglasses for the needy, Boy Scouts and LIFT-UP of Routt County, among others. Volunteers are needed to help operate the stands. Call Del at 879-5853.
