CMC student arrested on marijuana charges

An 18-year-old Colorado Mountain College student was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of growing marijuana in his dorm room.

Steamboat Springs police Sgt. Dale Coyner said Wade Zachory Gibson of Montvale, N.J., was charged with cultivating marijuana, a Class 3 felony, after officers found one plant in his room at Hill Hall.

Coyner said the dorm's resident assistant called police when he became suspicious Gibson was growing marijuana in his room.

Officers contacted Gibson, who gave them permission to enter his room, where officers found a 5-inch marijuana plant growing under a bench under his bed.

Officers interviewed Gibson and arrested him.

He was taken to Routt County Jail, where he posted bond the same day.
