Nancy Ellen Crawford

Oak Creek resident Nancy Ellen Crawford died Nov. 16, 2005, at her home. She was 57.

Nancy Ellen McDermott was born July 9, 1948, in West Point, Neb., to Victor and Jane McDermott. Her family moved to Steamboat Springs when she was in third grade. She graduated from Steamboat Springs High School in 1966. After high school, Nancy attended college for two years at the University of Colorado.

Nancy married Cecil Crawford on March 1, 1969, in Steamboat Springs, and they made their home in Oak Creek, where Nancy served as town clerk for 26 years.

Nancy enjoyed cooking, reading and spending time at home.

She was a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church and its altar and rosary society. She also was a member of the Municipal Clerks Association.

She is survived by her husband, Cecil Crawford of Oak Creek; her daughters, Amy Crawford of Aztec, N.M., and Libby and her husband Randy Raisch of Grand Junction; her grandchildren, Cannon and Chloe; her parents, Victor and Jane McDermott of Grand Junction; her sister Linda and her husband Tom Nelson of Sacramento, Calif.; her brothers, Jack McDermott of Wyoming and Bob McDermott of Denver; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Nov. 22, 2005, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Oak Creek with Father Ernest Bayer as the celebrant.

Memorial donations may be made to the Nancy E. Crawford Playground Fund in care of First National Bank of the Rockies, P.O. Box 68, Oak Creek, CO 80467.
