Bill Whittemore: Keep buses free

The Steamboat Pilot & Today (Sound Off Nov. 13) printed an opinion saying that the bus service should start charging $1 for every ride. I feel that the bus service should not charge all people to get on the bus. If Steamboat Springs Transit did charge anyone to ride the bus, many more people would drive cars. I also feel that fewer people would visit this resort town because of having to pay for their transportation.
I always have felt and still feel that the bus service should always be free, and the service should be used by everyone, including people who have cars.
All of us should pay a lot of attention to making sure that our air stays clean. Big cities only are shown as having dirty air because of higher populations. We do not want to be like them. We want to stay clean. Clean air is a lot healthier.
