All LIFT-UP of Routt County sites will be closed today. The Community Thrift Store will re-open Saturday. Call 870-0727.

Winter Sports Club seeking race volunteers

The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club needs volunteers for International Skiing Federation Alpine races, from Dec. 18 to 21 at Howelsen Hill and Steamboat Ski Area.

Volunteers are needed to be gatekeepers and for other duties. All volunteers will get a ski ticket voucher to be redeemed at Steamboat Ski Area any day of the ski season.

The Winter Sports Club and Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. also are looking for volunteers for the 2005 Nordic Combined World Cup B and U.S. Freestyle Team Olympic Trials to be held Dec. 10, 11 and 30. Volunteers can earn ski ticket vouchers or value passes for their efforts. Call the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association at 879-0882, ext. 209.

Special events funding applications being taken

The Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association is accepting applications for summer 2006 special events funding. The application deadline is Dec. 9. Download an application form at www.steamboatchamber.com or pick one up at the Chamber office. Call Jody at 879-0882, ext. 203, with questions.

CMC offering free English classes for all levels

Colorado Mountain College offers free English as a Second Language classes for all levels.

Classes meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays in Willett Hall, Room 302. To enroll, call Jenny le Roux at 870-4534.
