The city of Steamboat Springs and Routt County recently recognized employees for their hard work.

The city's celebration also included recognition of City Manager Paul Hughes, who recently announced his retirement. Hughes plans to remain until a new city manager is selected.

Routt County held a luncheon last week, when officials recognized employees for their length of service to the county.

Steamboat's awards were:

n Good Guy Award for outstanding work: Lynn Donaldson, Joe Pokay, Jason Weber, Janet Hruby, Dustin Stratton, Sarah Larson, Gerard Geis, Tara Yohannan, Laureen Schaffer

n Community Involvement Award: Bill Elder

n Customer Service Award: Forest Yeager

n Thinking Outside the Box Award: Craig Robinson, Jeff Nelson, Jason Angelow

n Five years of service: Dave Calder, Julie Franklin, Jim Gregoire, Eric Irwin, David Kleiber, Tom Leeson, Richard Marchewka, Tom Martindale, Richard Pierce, Scott Quick, Laureen Schaffer and Don Taylor

n Ten years of service: Susan Bell, Susie Kleman, David VanWinkle, Bill Whelihan and Kim White

n Fifteen years of service: Janice Buntin, Robin Pryke and Paul Yonekawa

n Twenty years of service: Richard Brandt, Bob Delvalle, Tom Heaton, Jay Muhme and Barb Simms

n Twenty-five years of service: JD Hays

n Thirty years of service: Joe Zimmerman

City officials also recog--nized Mel Baker, airport man----ager for Steamboat Springs, for receiving his Airport Certified Employee-Operations certification from the American Association of Airport Executives. The course is intended to enhance airport employees' knowledge about operating an airfield and sharing responsibility for safety, operation and maintenance of airports.
