Workforce Office offers advice for veterans

Military veterans are encouraged to stop by the Workforce Office in the Sundance at Fish Creek shopping center to visit with the Routt County Veterans Affairs officer. Find out about the benefits earned by serving in the military. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays. Library hosts story-time for children 5 and younger

Bud Werner Memorial Library invites children ages 5 and younger to Hodgepodge story-time every other Thursday from 3:30 to 4 p.m. Hodgepodge is a free, drop-in program, and will be offered Nov. 17 and Dec. 1 and 15. Snacks and an activity are provided. Call 879-0240.

Snowboarding program looking for volunteers

The Snowboard Outreach Society, a nonprofit organization that teaches snowboarding to at-risk children, is looking for volunteers for its Steamboat Springs program. English as a Second Language classes offered

Coats gathered in drive distributed this week

Winter coats from LIFT-UP of Routt County and Steamboat Cleaners' coat drive will be distributed through Saturday. Distribution will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays in Warehouse No. 9 in the Copper Ridge Business Park on Copper Ridge Circle, behind Elk River Farm and Feed. Alpine Taxi will give free rides from its office on U.S. Highway 40 west of downtown Steamboat to the coat distribution center. For more information, call 870-8804.

Young professionals can apply for exchange program

The Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs is inviting young professionals ages 25 to 40 to apply for the Rotary Group Study Exchange Program. The program is designed to develop professional and leadership skills among young adults to better prepare them to address the needs of their communities. Team members will spend a month visiting southern Brazil and living with Rotary families there. Applications for the program are due Nov. 26. Interviews will be Dec. 3 in Laramie, Wyo.
