Former Oak Creek resident Stephen Mark Hay died Oct. 22, 2005, in Northglenn. He was 31.
Steve was born July 22, 1974, in Denver to Betsy and Jack Hay. He lived the majority of his life in Denver. He graduated in 1994 from Thomas Jefferson High School, where he played varsity football and earned All-City honors. Steve was a recent graduate of Metropolitan State College and was employed by the HWS Consulting Group of Denver.
He married Donna Otero, and together they had two beautiful children, Stevie Layne and Taylor Ann.
After spending several years as an auto mechanic, Steve returned to college, from which he graduated Cum Laude with his bachelor's degree in earth and atmospheric sciences in June 2005. While at Metro State, he served in numerous student organizations and committees, including the Board of Trustees, Student Court, the Earth Science Club and CASS (Connecting Alumni, Students & Spirit). Additionally, he worked in the Office of Student Activities as an event programmer.
Steve recently became engaged to Carrie Slocum, and they were planning an April wedding.
Steve leaves behind many people with broken hearts, including his children, Taylor and Stevie; his fiancee, Carrie Slocum; his mother, Betsy Hay; his father and stepmother, Jack and Lois Hay; his brother, John; his former wife, Donna Campbell; his stepdaughters, Nashtun, Kiah, Skyler, Zanna and Joslynn; numerous aunts and uncles; and many, many good friends.
Steve will be remembered most for the unconditional love for his children.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Oct. 28, 2005, at St. Cajetan's Center in Denver.
