Wolfpack snares 13 trophies

Last Sunday, the youth wrestlers of the Yampa Valley Wrestling Club, also known as the Wolfpack, represented Routt County at the first tournament of the fall season for the Intermountain League of USA Wrestling.
The tournament in Craig hosted competitors from regional clubs and ones from as far as Leadville and Alamosa. Finishing first in their respective brackets were Colton Pasternak, Wilder Gray, Dakota Thevdt, Ian Caragol, Maclain Smiley, Sam Rossman, Nick Rossman, Brandon Yeager and Casey Williams.
Austin Smiley was second, and Connor O'Brien and David Kelley finished third. Benjamin Strait took home a fourth-place medal. Club members David Strait and Colton Mahanna were not able to complete their brackets because of minor injuries.
The next stop for the Wolfpack is the Monster Match tournament this weekend at the National Western Stock Show Complex in Denver. The Yampa Valley Wrestling Club hosted a tournament Tuesday at Steamboat Springs High School.
