Youths can apply for Rotary Club exchange
The Rotary Club is accepting applications for its Youth Summer Exchange Program, which pairs club-sponsored high school students with students from foreign countries. The American student spends three to five weeks living with his or her host family and foreign student, and the two students then come to the U.S. to spend a similar amount of time here. The student's family is responsible for the cost of travel and insurance for their student and also must agree to host the foreign student in their home.
To qualify for the program, students must be between 15 and 19 years old, of good character and reputation, have above-average academic ability and an outgoing and pleasant personality. Passports and, in some cases, visas, are required.
Rotary has exchange contracts with countries such as Austria, Belgium, Canada, England, Finland, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Mexico, Russia, Japan and Sweden.
Applications can be obtained from John "J.P." Pougiales by calling 871-0159 or e-mailing email@example.com. Completed applications must be submitted by Friday, but students are encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible.
