Cookbook orders being taken to benefit Strings

The Guild for Strings in the Mountains has compiled a cookbook as a fund-raising project.

The Steamboat Seasons Cookbook is a coffee-table quality cookbook that features recipes from local celebrated chefs, musicians and Steamboat Springs residents. The book includes 224 pages and 235 recipes, and retails for $24.95.

The Strings Guild is offering a 10 percent pre-published discount until June 1. Order online at www.stringsinthemountains.com/cookbook or call 879-5056.

All proceeds benefit Strings in the Mountains Music Festival.

Vacation Bible School offered June 6 to 10

Yampa Bible Church will hold Vacation Bible School June 6 to 10.

"TrueRassic Park" is the theme of the Bible School for children ages 4 to those in sixth grade.

Bible School is from 9 a.m. to noon each day. Call 638-4411.

Art vendors needed for Art On The Mountain

Local art vendors to being sought to participate in any of the fourth annual Art On The Mountain shows this summer. The shows will be held on July Fourth weekend, July 30 and 31, Aug. 6 and 7, Labor Day weekend and Sept. 10. The cost is $75 for a 10-by-10-foot booth. Shows take place at the base of the ski area in Gondola Square. Call Nancy at 871-5315.

Master gardeners offering house calls to residents

The Master Gardeners of Routt County are offering home visits to address residents' horticultural needs.

Any resident in any part of the county can call to get help on questions such as why a tree is dying and what sorts of plants would grow well in a yard. The visits are free.

"We will come take a look at it and try to solve your problems," said C.J. Mucklow, Routt County agricultural extension agent.

Master gardeners will be available Thursday mornings through the end of June. To request a visit, call 879-0825.

The Master Gardeners program is available through the Colorado State University Cooperative Extension Service.

ESL classes offered for free Tuesdays to Thursdays

Free English as a Second Language classes will be offered from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays, May 31 to Aug. 4. The classes are designed for speakers of any foreign language who would like to learn English. Call 870-4534.
