Volunteer training set for therapeutic program

The Humble Ranch Education and Therapy Center is holding volunteer training from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. New volunteers are needed this summer to act as sidewalkers during equine therapy sessions. Call Marian or Cheri at 879-3443.

Story-telling Chautauqua set for June 24 and 25

Chautauqua at Alpine Campus, a traveling circuit of lectures, plays and musical programs, is June 24 and June 25 at Colorado Mountain College. This year's Chautauqua features "Women of the West" and will focus on Calamity Jane, Clara Brown and Isabella Bird.

Travis Taber Memorial to be dedicated May 21

Classmates and friends of Travis Taber will be dedicating a living memorial in the schoolyard at South Routt Elementary School in Yampa on May 21. The planting of a tree, some shrubs and flowers will begin at 10 a.m. A plaque will be placed and the dedication will follow.

Hayden is looking for Summerfest vendors

The Town of Hayden Recreation Board is seeking vendors of arts, crafts, kids items, garden items, etc., for the fourth annual Hayden Valley Summerfest, to be held July 2. Vendors must have or apply for a Colorado state Sales Tax License and a Hayden Sales Tax License. Call 276-3741.

Mustang Roundup

registration is under way

Registration is under way for the 17th annual Mustang Roundup, to be held June 17 and 18. Events will include a scenic mountain tour, an autocross at the Meadows parking lot and the traditional Show 'n' Shine on Lincoln Avenue. Registration for the Show 'n' Shine ends June 1; forms are available at the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association Visitors Center. Call 879-0882.

Artists sought for summer Art Walks at Torian Plum

Artists are being sought to participate in Torian Plum's summer Art Walks, which will take place July 15 and 29 and the weekend of Aug. 12 to 14. Call Shawn Donnelly at 879-6296.

Chili cooks encouraged

to show off skills

The second annual Mountain Chili Festival, hosted by the Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp., is looking for participants to cook their favorite chili recipes July 30 at the base of the ski area. Prizes will be offered for chili entered in two categories, red and green. The entry fee is $25. Call 871-5336.

Emergency food available at LIFT-UP food banks

Emergency food is being distributed through The Emergency Food Assistance Program at LIFT-UP of Routt County offices.

Each eligible household can receive TEFAP foods once a quarter, and the distribution period for the second quarter began April 1 and ends June 30. Food will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Call 870-8804 from 1 to 5 p.m. weekdays for more information about income eligibility and hours of operation for the Steamboat Springs, Hayden and Oak Creek LIFT-UP offices.
