Stahoviak heads to Denver for physical therapy
Routt County Commissioner Nancy Stahoviak was transported to Denver on Monday to get specialized physical therapy after having part of her right leg amputated.
The amputation was a result of recurring infection in knee replacements in her right leg.
At the skilled nursing facility in Denver, Stahoviak will do physical therapy, learn how to care for her leg, and look at prosthetic options, Routt County Manager Tom Sullivan said. Sullivan was relaying Stahoviak's information for the media.
Stahoviak estimated she will be at the center for two to four weeks and then could go home, Sullivan said.
He also said that Stahoviak wanted to express her thanks to the community and county for their support.
Stahoviak has been in and out of the hospital and away from her county office since December 2003, when she was flown to Denver because of life-threatening kidney failure and infections.
