Registration starts at 8 a.m. Sunday at the Winter Sports Club tent across from the gondola building.

Participants will receive an entry form for a prize drawing and a clue leading them to the first of four sites on the mountain. They will pick up additional clues and entry forms at each site.

Treasure hunters must be able to ski or ride blue runs.

They will be able to collect as many as five entry forms for the drawing, which will be held at 4 p.m. at the base area tent.

Completed entry forms must be turned in at the tent by 3:30 p.m. Winners do not need to be present to claim prizes, and each participant can win only one prize.

Other prizes include a round-trip airline ticket, a pair of skis, outerwear and gift certificates.

The treasure hunt is a variation of an Easter egg hunt formerly hosted by the Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp., which hid two eggs containing season passes on the mountain.

The resort handed the event over to the nonprofit Winter Sports Club, which trains youths in Nordic, Alpine and freestyle skiing and snowboarding programs.

"It's obviously another great show of support from them for youth in the community," said Rick DeVos, director of the Winter Sports Club.

An Easter Sunrise Service is at 6:45 a.m. Sunday on Mount Werner. The gondola opens at 6 a.m. to take worshippers up the mountain, and those wishing to participate are encouraged to be ready to load by 6 a.m. Tim Selby, associate pastor at the United Methodist Church, will lead the sunrise service.
