Six Steamboat Springs basketball players recently were named to the Western Slope League's first team. A seventh earned honorable mention honors.
League coaches selected senior Kayla Kostur and junior Jessica Peters to the All-League first team on the girls' side.
League coaches voted seniors Pat Ayres, Cameron Burney and Dustin Moran and junior Scott Peterson to the All-League first team for the boys.
Senior Tyler Fosdick received honorable mention recognition, giving every Sailors starter an All-League spot.
The last time all five boys starters landed on the All-League first team was 1981. Sailors coach Kelly Meek said it's difficult to land three players on the All-League first team, let alone four.
In addition, Bur-ney was named the Wes-tern Slope League Player of the Year for the boys after helping the Sailors run the table in league play. Burney was one of the state's leaders in points, rebounds, steals and blocked shots per game.
Steamboat won the outright league crown for the second-straight year.
Moffat County's Brandie Telfer was named the Western Slope League Player of the Year for the girls after helping the Bulldogs post an undefeated league record, as well.
The Steamboat boys finished the season 21-3 overall and advanced to the round of 16 this postseason. The Sailors girls finished 12-12 but rebounded from a slow start to have an impressive final few weeks of the season under first-year coach Ashley Berggren.
All-State selections will be released at a later date.
