The Hayden Town Board on Thursday will discuss building a police station.
The town is considering building a station to meet the growing space needs of the Hayden Police Department, which is in an office in Town Hall.
The Durrant architecture and engineering firm of Denver has conducted a study investigating space, cost and other details associated with a new station.
The company estimates the station would need to be about 5,500 square feet and would cost about $850,000 unfurnished, according to a summary of the study.
Also Thursday, the Town Board will consider extending annexation and other approvals of the Williams "C" Subdivision through May 2006. The town approved annexation of the proposed subdivision, near Yampa Valley Regional Airport, in spring 2004.
Aaron Wiltfong, who operates Avis Rent A Car, plans to build a rental car maintenance facility. In a letter to the town, Wiltfong stated he cannot start construction on the project until spring 2006.
The Town Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Town Hall.
In past business, the Town Board in February approved a motion annexing the Routt County Fairgrounds, Dry Creek Park, the skatepark and three private properties on Poplar Street.
The Bertram, Kistler and Jazwick properties were included in the process to clean up boundary issues.
The board also approved adjustments to the town's equivalent-residential-unit system of calculating water and sewer tap fees. The revised system is meant to be friendlier to businesses.
An EQR is the standard tap fee for a residence or $5,700. Fees for commercial uses are calculated as multiple EQRs depending on use.
The revised system includes one set of bathrooms -- which typically are public restrooms -- in the first EQR.
Larger businesses with water needs computing to four EQRs or more will have the option of demonstrating the proposed use will be less than that reflected by the EQRs, though the town will make the final decision regarding any adjustments to calculations.
Revisions also would break EQR units down into smaller increments so calculations don't have to be rounded up to additional EQRs.
Also last month, the Town Board filled vacancies and expanded the town's Economic Development Commission by approving Amber Hall and Martha Cannon as members. Tom Allen will serve as a board alternate.
