Private ranches offering bus tour on Sunday

A bus tour of three private ranches in Routt County will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The tour includes stops at the Highlands Meadows Sheep Ranch, the M & M Elk Ranch and the Rocking C Bar Cattle Ranch, where ranchers will explain their livestock operations and provide insights to their lifestyle and experiences.

Guides from the Community Agriculture Alliance, Historic Routt County and the CSU Routt County Extension Service will provide a historical perspective about how ranching has evolved in the area.

The tour is $40 for adults and $20 for teenagers. Each paying adult may bring one child younger than 13 free of cost. Additional children are $10. Buses leave from the Depot Art Center.

City streets to be closed for paving projects

Several city streets will be closed today or Wednesday to accommodate summer paving projects. Connell Resources will be paving Oak Street from Fifth to 11th streets today. On Wednesday, Third Street between Lincoln Avenue and Oak Street, and 10th Street from Lincoln Avenue north to the alleyway will be closed for paving. Volunteers needed for

25th hot air balloon rodeo

Volunteers are needed to help with the 25th annual Hot Air Balloon Rodeo, to be held July 8 to 10. Volunteers will receive an official event T-shirt. Call 879-0882, ext. 208.

Strawberry Festival planned for July 4

A Strawberry Festival will be held Monday on the lawn of the United Methodist Church, Oak and Eighth streets, immediately after the parade. Ice cream sundaes will be featured, plus cones and lemonade. The proceeds will benefit local charities.

Fifth-, sixth-graders to paint sidewalks this week

The Steamboat Springs Arts Council and the city's summer camp program present Strada D'Arte, or sidewalk painting, for rising fifth- and sixth-graders on Tuesday and Thursday. The cost is $25 per day. Register at the Parks and Recreation Office or call 879-4300.

Torian Plum Art Walks officials seeking artists

Artists are being sought to participate in Torian Plum's summer Art Walks, which will take place July 15 and 29 and the weekend of Aug. 12 to 14. Call Shawn Donnelly at 879-6296.

Rally for a Cure tourney scheduled for July 19

The Rally for a Cure golf tournament, a benefit for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the Yampa Valley Breast Cancer Awareness Project, is scheduled for July 19 at the Sheraton Steamboat Golf Club. The cost is $90 a person, which includes greens fees, cart rentals and lunch. People who can't golf are welcome to come for lunch only, which costs $10, to support Rally for a Cure. Tournament registration forms are available at all area courses. This year, men and women are invited to play. Call Linda at 879-7114.
