Summer bluegrass

Although the sounds of old country are blowing away, a fierce bluegrass wind consumed the Strings Tent on Tuesday night. That's exactly what Open Road lead singer and songwriter Brad Folk predicted in the group's first song of the night.

Open Road was the finale of Tuesday's bluegrass concert, which also featured The Biscuit Burners and Bearfoot Bluegrass. Each group received an energetic standing ovation from a packed audience, as well as cowboy whoops and loud cheers after solos.

Overall, the concert was the perfect way to get into the summer bluegrass groove.

Musical matrimony

Paulie Anderson and his lovely wife, Courtney, can be blamed for draining the town of local musicians this weekend. Their Saturday wedding and Sunday reception was a regular music festival with performances by the African Drum Troupe, Little Laura and Neil Marchman, Buzzcut Sheep, DJ Also Starring and The Plagiarists.

Those in attendance are still recovering from all the excitement.

He knows how to work it

At a Friday night party thrown by the Steamboat Pilot & Today, local band Loose Change got everyone out on the dance floor. By an informal vote of those in attendance and the personal opinion of the 4 Points staff, it seems Steamboat Springs Police Department Public Safety Director J.D. Hays is the best dancer in town.
