Tee off on breast cancer: golf in Rally for a Cure

The Rally for a Cure golf tournament, a benefit for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the Yampa Valley Breast Cancer Awareness Project, is scheduled for July 19 at the Sheraton Steamboat Golf Club. The cost is $90 per person, which includes greens fees, cart rentals and lunch. People who can't golf are welcome to come for lunch, which costs $10, to support Rally for a Cure. Historic group holds open house, auction fund-raiser

Historic Routt County will hold an open house from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Maxwell Building in Steamboat Springs. A silent auction also is being held, featuring watercolors of area historic buildings by former Routt County resident Marty Alexandroff. The paintings will be on tour, appearing in various businesses throughout Routt County, from Friday to July 5. Bids are being taken online at www.silent.donateauctions.com/hrc. Bills will be accepted through September, with the winners announced in October. All auction proceeds will benefit Historic Routt County. Call 875-1305.

Entries sought for July 4 'Show Us Your Age' parade

The 102nd Annual Cowboys' Roundup Days July Fourth parade is in the planning statges, and parade entries are sought. The theme of this year's parade is "Steamboat Springs Show Us Your Age." This year also marks the 100th anniversary of the Routt National Forest and F.M. Light & Sons. Parade entry forms are available at the Steamboat Springs Visitor Center or by calling 879-0882, ext. 203.

Conservation district

to host annual meeting

Routt County Conservation District, in conjunction with the Routt County Weed Advisory Board, will be holding its annual meeting at 1 p.m. June 28 at the Yampa River State Park. Many changes are in store for the 2005 meeting. This year, RCCD will be conducting Conservation Tours in conjunction with the traditional meeting and barbecue. The tours, which will leave the park at 1 p.m. and return at 4 p.m., will focus on water and will highlight RCCD/Natural Resources Conservation Service conservation projects in the Yampa River basin, including the Frentress stream bank protection project and the Cary Ditch irrigation project. Master gardeners' book now available in stores

A new book about gardening in the Yampa Valley is now available. "59 Days, 39°F at 6,770 Feet ..." was written by local master gardeners and can be purchased for $13.99 at many area stores. All proceeds from the sale of the book benefit the Routt County Master Gardener program.

Volunteers needed to help judge classic sports cars

Volunteers are needed to judge more than 400 classic Mustang cars Saturday. No experience is necessary. Judging is from 9 a.m. to noon on Lincoln Avenue. Volunteers receive a free 2005 Mustang T-shirt. Call 879-0882, ext. 208.
