Oak Creek Town Board meeting tonight
The Oak Creek Town Board has several items on tonight's agenda that might be of interest to the community.
Oak Creek Mayor Kathy "Cargo" Rodeman said that South Routt Medical Center officials are asking the board for a donation to purchase a bucking bull to help raise money for the center. Rodeman thinks they plan to set it up at functions and use it as a fund-raiser.
Also on the agenda is an update from Director of Public Works Jim Photos about the water-treatment facility. Rodeman thinks Photos will suggest that more work might need to be done before the board finalizes papers for the facility.
Lastly, there will be discussion about off-street parking requirements, which were debated at the May 26 meeting, when several community members had concerns about parking and building new housing in Oak Creek.
Buffalo Park Road will be closed for repairs
U.S. Forest Service Road 100, also known as Buffalo Park Road, is closed two miles south of U.S. Highway 40 because a culvert was washed out. The road will remain closed until the culvert is repaired.
Swing-dancing class begins Wednesday
A four-week country and big-band swing-dancing class for all levels is from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning Wednesday, at The Center for Movement Arts. The cost is $40 a person.
Food-safety training course will be June 24
A food-safety training course for restaurant employees will be held June 24 in Steamboat Springs. The course covers foodborne illness, cross-cotamination, personal hygiene, time and temperature control and the new no-bare-hand-contact regulation. The course will be taught in English from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and in Spanish from 2 to 4:30 p.m. The cost is $30, and people must sign up by June 21 by calling (970) 845-0223.
Property-tax installment due Wednesday
People who decided to pay their property taxes in two installments should be aware that the second payment is due in less than a week.
Payments must be postmarked by Wednesday or turned in at the payment window of the treasurer's office by 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Missing the deadline could mean a 1 percent charge for each month the payment is not made. The treasurer's office annually sends out 7,000 to 8,000 delinquent notices in late June, Routt County Treasurer Jeanne Whiddon said.
