Allard aide to hold Routt County office hours today

U.S. Senator Wayne Allard's Western Colorado Area Director, Derek Wagner, will conduct Senate office hours in Steamboat Springs from 8 to 9 a.m. today in the Ante Room of the Routt County Courthouse Annex.
"I want to extend an invitation to anyone in Routt County who is experiencing a problem with a federal agency or would like to pass along an opinion on a current issue before the U.S. Senate, to stop by and visit with Derek on Friday," Allard said. No appointment is necessary."

Hospital phone system outage scheduled Saturday

Yampa Valley Medical Center's phone system will be unavailable for as long as 30 minutes Saturday morning. The hospital is performing a routine upgrade of its phone system at 8 a.m. Saturday, a process that is expected to be finished by 8:30 a.m. People who need to call the hospital Saturday morning are asked to do so before 8 or after 8:30.

The phone upgrade was planned for July 23 but had to be rescheduled for Saturday.

Drivers License Office

to be closed Monday

The Steamboat Springs Drivers License Office, 625 Anglers Drive, will be closed Monday for examiner training. The office will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday. Business hours are 8 to 11:45 a.m. and 1 to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. Call 879-0715.

Library reminds that Aug. 5 is deadline for 'Splash'

Bud Werner Memorial Library reminds children participating in the "Splash" summer reading program that Aug. 5 is the deadline for completing their reading game and collecting prizes. Call 879-0240.

Volunteers needed to help with bike tour Aug. 13

Volunteers are needed to assist with "Kent Eriksen's Tour de Steamboat" on Aug. 13. The event is a 105-mile noncompetitive bike tour summiting Rabbit Ears, Gore and Yellow Jacket passes. Volunteers are needed for registration, aid stations and a post-event barbecue. Shifts last about 5 hours, and volunteers will receive a T-shirt and barbecue meal. Call 879-0480 or e-mail

Routt County Fair taking applications for vendors

The Routt County Fair is accepting applications for vendors of food, arts and crafts, home-based business items, children's items, garden items, nonprofit booths and more for the 91st annual Routt County Fair.

The fair is scheduled from Aug. 17 to 21. Call Jill at 276-3068.

Applications for Ranch Rodeo available now

Applications for the Routt County Fair Ranch Rodeo are available at Mountain Valley Bank in Steamboat Springs and Hayden, Soda Creek Western Mercantile and the Routt County Fairgrounds office. The Ranch Rodeo takes place Aug. 21 during the Routt County Fair. The entry fee is $260 a team. Call 276-3068.
