Council seeking artists to transform hubcaps

The Steamboat Springs Arts Council is seeking people interested in transforming automobile hubcaps into works of art. The finished pieces will be displayed around town Aug. 4 to 6 in conjunction with the Beaux Arts Festival. The Arts Council will supply the hubcaps. The pieces will be judged and sold at a silent auction to take place during the Steamboat Springs Wine Festival on that weekend. Artists will receive prizes for first and second place, and auction proceeds will benefit the Arts Council. Call Dona Steele at 879-9038.

Rally for a Cure golf tournament is Tuesday

The Rally for a Cure golf tournament, a benefit for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the Yampa Valley Breast Cancer Awareness Project, is scheduled for Tuesday at the Sheraton Steamboat Golf Club. The cost is $90 a person, which includes greens fees, cart rentals and lunch. People who can't golf are welcome to come for lunch only, which costs $10, to support Rally for a Cure. Tournament registration forms are available at all area golf courses. Men and women are invited to play. Call Linda at 879-7114.

Register in advance for open horse show

People interested in participating in the Routt County Fair's Open Horse Show can register in advance through July 29. Call 736-1105 or pick up an entry form at the Routt County Cooperative Extension Office, Elk River Farm & Feed, Horses Etc., Soda Creek Western Mercantile, Bonfiglio Drug, Montgomery General or Yampa Valley Feeds.

Bottleneck donating sales to breast cancer awareness

Mountain Wine Distributing, E & J Gallo Winery and The Bottleneck have teamed up to raise money for the Yampa Valley Breast Cancer Awareness Project. YVBCAP is the organizer of the Bust of Steamboat and is the local organization that raises funds for uninsured and underinsured women of Yampa Valley who are in need of mammograms or financial assistance for breast cancer treatment. Through Saturday, for every bottle of Red Bicyclette wine The Bottleneck sells, $4 will be donated to YVBCAP. The store also is giving away bikes and race jerseys from Orange Peel Bike Shop. All the money goes to a local cause.

Community blood drive to be held Thursday

A community blood drive is from 12:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Yampa Valley Medical Center. Appointments are required. Call 870-1495.

Parade entries sought for Colorado Days Celebration

The Hayden Chamber of Commerce is seeking parade entries for the 22nd annual Colorado Day's Celebration parade. The parade will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in downtown Hayden. Call 276-1449.
