Longtime Steamboat Springs resident Nancy Lourie Blackett passed away July 9, 2005, in Fort Collins. She was 78.
Nancy was born Feb. 22, 1928, in Evanston, Ill., to Donold B. and Mary K. Lourie. Nancy enjoyed the first 45 years of her life in Winnetka, Ill., where she raised three children with her husband, Hill. Nancy was an active participant in many charitable activities. Most notable was her role as the president of the Chicago Junior League from 1959 to 1961.
Nancy was very dedicated to her family and enjoyed many athletic and cultural activities.
Nancy moved to Steamboat in 1973. She loved Steamboat and felt as if she had discovered the city. In the last eight years of her life, Nancy was very courageous in battling many health problems, including cancer. Throughout her life, Nancy was a generous and loving friend to many.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Hill; her daughter, Mary Blackett Randall; her sons, Buzz and Scott Blackett; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service is at 11 a.m. on July 27 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Steamboat.
