Arts and craft fairs have become a summertime staple across the United States. White tents full of pottery, jewelry and hand-carved toys fill West Lincoln Park once a year to provide an outdoor shopping experience for anyone looking for something unique and handmade.

This is the 31st year for the Steamboat Springs Arts Council Art in the Park.

Nancy Kramer, executive director of the Arts Council, has watched the event grow during her 30 years in town and her 13 years as an organizer. It started as a small gathering of artists who set up booths on the courthouse lawn, moved to Little Toots Park and now fills the entire West Lincoln Park, visible to anyone who drives into town from the west.

Art in the Park is paired with Rainbow Weekend in hopes that visitors will be encouraged to experience the downtown area as well as the mountain area.

Many of the Art in the Park vendors are locals, including Dean Martin, who makes oriental barbecue sauce, and Cassidy Kurtz, who makes one-of-a-kind jewelry. Throughout the two-day event, local bands and dancers will perform.
