Former Steamboat Springs resident Nellie Gray Soash died Jan. 15, 2005, surrounded by family in her home at Mantey Heights Care Center in Grand Junction. Soash was 13 days shy of her 98th birthday.

Routt County ag producers take top honors at Western Stock Show
The 99th National Western Stock Show, Rodeo and Horse Show held in Denver earlier this month reported record attendance with 633,544 people. Competitors came from across the United States and Canada, representing the best of the best in agriculture. Among those, Routt County's own fared well, proving that some of the best ranchers and agricultural producers are right here in our back yard.

Although I disagree with the decision of the Oak Creek Town Board in passing "a resolution opposing the USA Patriot Act," I applaud the symbolism. This act of representative democracy is in the greatest tradition of this free land. Given that the resolution was passed unanimously by the board, I can conclude only that opposition to the Patriot Act is fully representative of the views of Oak Creek residents and businesses. This saddens me.
