Steamboat Springs snowboarder Erin Simmons, who competes for Canada, finished 11th at the World Snowboarding Championships in Whistler, British Columbia, earlier this week.
American Lindsey Jacobellis, of Stratton, Vt., won the event, which took place Sunday. France's Karine Ruby was second, and Canadian Maelle Ricker was third. Fellow Canadian rider Dominique Maltais was third.
Simmons finished fifth in a Grand Prix event Jan. 8 at Mount Bachelor in Oregon. The NorAm was her first competition since undergoing anterior cruciate ligament surgery during the summer.
