Longtime Hayden resident Mary Louise Roeder Denker passed away Jan. 9, 2005, in Craig. She was 90.
Mary Louise Roeder was born Sept. 29, 1914, in Dwight, Ill., to George and Louise Roeder.
She married Harold Denker on Sept. 5, 1947. The couple lived in Hayden for most of their 57 years together.
Mary was a homemaker, an avid gardener and a sports enthusiast. She was active with the Hayden Garden Club, Routt County 4-H, Hayden High School Band Boosters and the Farm Bureau and she volunteered at the Hayden library.
Mary also was very active with her home church, Faith Lutheran Church in Craig. She was a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary Society, a teacher of Sunday school and Vacation Bible School classes, and a member of the altar guild. She also volunteered at Faith Lutheran Church's day-care center.
Mary spent the past two years at Doak Walker Care Center in Steamboat Springs but was able to be with her family for her last six months.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and Bernice Spainhower, Ruth Snyder, Clarence Roeder and Frank Roeder.
Mary is survived by her husband, Harold; a daughter, Joyce, and her husband, Jim, of Craig; a son, James, and his wife, Jan, of Hayden; two brothers, George Roeder of Ottawa, Ill., and Stan Roeder of Wilmington, Ill.; and six grandchildren, Jamie, Jacques, Jana and Jacquelyn Denker and Jared and Justin Folley.
A service was held Jan. 13, 2005, at Faith Lutheran Church in Craig. Interment was at Hayden Cemetery.
