Cultural heritage tourism workshop to be held
The National Trust for Historic Preservation announced four nationwide cultural heritage tourism projects that have been selected to host Share Your Heritage workshops in 2005. The Northwest Colorado Heritage Tourism Initiative is one of the four, and it will unite leaders from ten communities in Routt, Rio Blanco and Moffat counties to develop a marketing strategy and cultural heritage tourism plan for Northwest Colorado.
The National Trust defines "cultural heritage tourism" as traveling to experience the places, artifacts and activities that authentically represent the stories and people of the past and present. It includes cultural, historic and natural resources.
The two-day workshops, which will be held in June in Steamboat Springs, are designed to bring together community leaders with national experts to work on specific cultural heritage tourism issues, develop partnerships, create strategies and form action plans.
