Companies distributing Thai scarves to raise funds

Local outdoor industry companies have joined forces to distribute colorful scarves, sewn in villages throughout Thailand, to raise funds for tsunami survivors. Employees and friends from the Mountain Hardwear Public Relations office, BAP, SmartWool and Moots, all based in Steamboat Springs, will be distributing the scarves from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in Gondola Square. The scarves are available for a minimum donation of $10 to $50, with all proceeds from this effort going to the Red Cross Tsunami relief effort.

for 8th-grade career day

Local women are needed as workshop presenters and volunteers for the eighth-grade "Girls to Women" career day April 12. Call Tibby Speare at 870-9707.

Flu vaccine available at Steamboat Medical Group

Flu vaccine is available at Steamboat Medical Group for those at high risk or anyone who would like a flu vaccine. It is recommended that children 6 months to 23 months old and their family members receive the flu vaccine. Call 879-0203.

Registration opens

for soccer tournament

Registration is open for a co-ed indoor soccer tournament for teens ages 14 to 18. The four-on-four tournament will be held March 13 at the Steamboat Springs High School. Teams must field two female players. There is a three-game guarantee. The cost is $15 per team, with proceeds going to Steamboat Youth Soccer Association. Building department

will have limited staff

Routt County Regional Building Department employees will be attending an educational conference from Monday to Friday, so the department will be operating with a limited staff, which may affect inspections and plan review. Customers are asked to plan accordingly.

Hayden Rec Department sponsors Hapkido class

The Hayden Recreation Department is sponsoring a free Hapkido class for children ages 11 and older at 6 p.m. Thursdays until May 26 in the Hayden Middle School gym. Parent and child participation is encouraged. To register, call instructor JD Paul at 276-7242 or 846-8545.
