Drennan a scholarship finalist

Hayden High School senior Jesse Drennan is a finalist for the High School Sports America Mike Alstott Student Athlete of the Year Scholarship in football.
Activities Director Kevin Kleckler nominated Drennan for the prize, which comes with a minimum $250 scholarship. Drennan is eligible to receive additional financial aid through regional and state awards, as well as the $3,000 national award.
The national winner also flies to Dallas to meet Alstott, a former college star at Purdue University and a current NFL player with Tampa Bay.
Drennan said the scholarship committee looks at involvement in extracurricular activities and participation in other sports.
Being a finalist also garners Drennan a spot on the NSSA All-State team.
After graduation, Drennan plans to play football at Mesa State College in Grand Junction.
